Who are the Nomads?

When the six asteroids hit earth, large rocks mixed with asteroid dust formed together and were flung back into space forming six moon planets that now orbit earth. Each moon planet is linked to its sister city forming a deep symbiotic relationship. Nomads are the denizens of the moon planets, and they, too, have their own distinct ways which set them apart from the Citizens. Their species is entirely machine-made; even the more human-looking Nomads were grown inside an artificial womb. Like the Citizens they have their own factions which include: the Wayfarer; the Vinyl; the Lone Wolf; the Merchant; the Technocrat; or the Regenerator.

Nomads have a few abilities that make them stand out from Citizens:

  • Increased Life Span
    • Most Nomads are capable of living two to three times longer than the average citizen.
      • Natural Spiritualism
        • Nomads have an innate ability to connect with their own spirit and the spirit of others. This allows all Nomads to have basic control over natural elements, enhanced physical abilities, and the capability of reaching out and touching the spirit of others.
        • It was Nomads that first taught the basics of Spiritualism to Citizens which has become foundational to many of their new sciences and societies.
      • Homebound
        • Being connected to the asteroids, no matter where in the world Nomads travel, they inherently know where the impact zones are at all times. Even without a map, blindfolded, and spun in a random circle, a Nomad is capable of making their way to any Metropolis (if they can survive the Wilderness).
      • Nomad Tongue
        • Nomads are linguistically gifted and capable of picking up new languages at a robotic pace.
      • Wanderlust
        • Nomads are capable of going weeks without food or water by drawing on the spirits of things in the world around them. However, they must be consistently moving; staying in one place for too long will dry up their spiritual connection, slowing their brain function considerably until it stops altogether.
      • Technological Superiority
        • It should be noted that Nomads are born in Artificial Wombs that ensure their survival within the Moon Planets' hostile environments. The youngest child is six years, which is the average age when a young Nomad is released from the womb.
        • Although the Nomads are technologically superior, they lack memories and access to a deep past. The Cities below lure them in with their oasis of stories, history, culture, and dreams.
